Most babies will be changed an average of six to nine times a day - that's a lot of time spent changing and on the changing table. Therefore, the changing area should be designed to be as comfortable as possible for the baby. A soft pad is not only there so that your baby does not have to lie on a hard object, but also to give the baby a feeling of warmth and security. With the right changing pads, changing diapers is pleasant for the little ones and it becomes an important ritual for you too, which can be fun and enjoyable.
What is a changing pad and how many changing pads does it need?
A changing mat is used to protect a changing mat underneath from dirt. The underlay usually consists of three layers, with one of the layers being waterproof. This feature of a pad is particularly useful if something goes wrong when changing diapers. Because not all changing mats have a coating on the outside and are water-repellent. A correct, additional pad prevents the changing mat from getting wet and constantly having to go into the washing machine.
Disposable pads or reusable pads
Just as with changing mats, there are also different solutions for pads. There are disposable pads that are quickly available in any drugstore or pads made of fabric that are washable and reusable. The disposable pads made of PVC or paper serve their purpose but produce a lot of waste and are therefore not particularly environmentally friendly. In addition, they feel a little cold on the skin and are therefore not particularly comfortable. The surface of a cloth pad is soft and comfortable. Babies especially like that and the positive feeling that is conveyed to the child has a positive effect on the entire diaper changing procedure. It is advisable to buy two to three changing pads so that one is always on the changing table and the other one is used as a reserve. Because the fabric pad can be machine washed and used several times, it is also an environmentally friendly alternative to disposable pads. Another advantage of the fabric pad is that they are made from the same fabric as the changing mat. This ensures a uniform picture in the children's room and has a calming effect on the ambience. You will find underlays made from all fabrics in our shop that match the requirements.
Is a pad necessary?
No matter what purpose the pad is used for, for on the go or for use at home, we have it. It is a very practical acquisition that offers the baby both a hygienic barrier against germs and allergens lying around and provides a pleasant feeling. Especially if there is no changing table available, this can help ensure that your baby lies safely, comfortably and cleanly and that it makes it easier for you to change and clean your darling.
